At Dawn Lorraine Conscious Skincare we believe in supporting both organizations and individuals who strive to make the world a better place. We also work to think globally and act locally by choosing organizations in our direct community to support. We encourage you to do the same. Here are just a few of the causes we support...
THE FOOD BANK OF NEVADA COUNTY
The Food Bank of Nevada County, CA is a non-profit food assistance agency providing food distribution and nutrition education to hungry individuals and families. In many ways, America is the land of plenty, but, for 1 in 6 Americans, hunger is a reality. Right now, millions of Americans are struggling with hunger. These are often hard-working adults, children and seniors who simply cannot make ends meet and are forced to go without food for several meals, or even days. Most of us may not be aware of this growing problem. It's time to educate ourselves about America's hunger problem. You can help fight hunger by donating or volunteering.
The Gorilla Love Project is an ad hoc group of community volunteers aiming to change the world for the better, fast and effectively, with wild, creative imagination. People who identify community problems and are willing to create and undertake imaginative hands-on solutions that transform our way of addressing our current societal challenges. Projects include building Micro-houses and making sandwiches for the homeless, The Commercial Street Boardwalk and handmade scarfs to keep those in need warm.
SCOOTERS PALS
Scooter's Pals was formed out of tragedy to give meaning to helping the least fortunate among us — abandoned dogs that cannot protect themselves and are destined to die. We also work cooperatively with other reputable rescue organizations to provide needed services for homeless animals. We fully vaccinate, spay and neuter, provide needed vet care, and microchip all our rescued dogs before adoption into homes after we have done a home safety check. We also provide refundable pet deposits for dog and cat guardians needing help relocating, allowing them to keep their pets instead of placing them in shelters. The financial crisis and housing debacle has created this need more than ever before.
THE FRIENDSHIP CLUB
The Friendship Club engages, educates and empowers girls at risk. Founded in 1995, The Friendship Club is a prevention program designed to reach at-risk girls before they engage in unhealthy behaviors. The Friendship Club guides girls to bright futures and helps them to become valuable members of their community. The Friendship Club receives no public funding and is supported by the generosity of the community and private grants.

SAMMIES FRIENDS
The mission of Sammie's Friends is to provide medical care for the animals at the Nevada County Animal Shelter, making them adoptable, and to support other disadvantaged animals in Nevada County that without help would otherwise be euthanized to end their suffering. We accept donations to pay for medical care for the animals. Many times the animals have conditions which keeps them from being adopted, yet the condition is not considered an emergency because it is not life-threatening (i.e. demodectic mange, broken legs and hips, amputation of legs, respiratory infections, foxtails in the ear and nose, and many more conditions). If these medical issues are not cared for, no one will adopt them because of the condition they are in.
